How to keep your Mindset Sharp

How do you keep your Mindset sharp when you’ve been dealt with a sudden problem, such as sickness?

I recently was hit hard with Covid. I thought for sure that I would never get it, and if I did, it would be no big deal, a couple days of not feeling well and I would be back on track.

I took pride in myself for being as healthy as I am for my age. I really felt untouchable, I have never felt healthier in my life than I do now. (Before Covid) That way of thinking isn’t necessarily wrong or right, but I do believe it’s kept me healthy and strong up to this point.

Then I got sick, and I have never been that sick in my life. It hit me like a ton of bricks. My body, my head, my breathing all suffered. I was down and out for 2 whole weeks. It was 3 weeks before I felt like myself again.

The worst part of it all, was my mind felt like mush. I couldn’t think straight, I couldn’t concentrate on anything.
I couldn’t read anything and understand it. I couldn’t drive, it felt debilitating.

I was worried that I wasn’t going to get my brain back to working like it should.

As my body started to heal, my mind just wasn’t catching up as fast as I wanted.
I had to do something. I couldn’t live this way. I read that some people suffer with this for 6 months!!
I just couldn’t imagine going through this for that long.
I found some “healing” mediation music. I would just sit and listen to it a few times during the day, and before bed.
I believe it had a Powerful effect on healing my mind.

I would also force myself to journal. It was so hard, and it was a sloppy mess, but I think it forced those “mind” muscles to work again.

It was just little things I did. But the little things…they’re not little, they gain momentum and become big things.

I started to finally be able to use my brain, and the mushy brain fog started to clear.
In life we all are dealt with setbacks. It’s not always sickness. It could be a death of a loved one. It could be anything unexpected that disrupts our life.
When these things happen to us, we get knocked off our journey just a bit.
We have to be careful to not let these things keep us off our journey.

We have to be mindful and aware and remember our path and what we are trying to accomplish in life.

Whatever our Journey is, whatever our goals are, we must remember to continue to believe in those and believe in ourselves.

It’s up to us to overcome our setbacks and thrive at life!

Remember the little things? They’re not little. They add up to great momentum.
